Progressive Folk & Bluegrass
As these wayward winds keep winding through the mountains, we await winter's chill to gently drift away. We rejoice at the occasional warm winter day as it reminds us of the vibrant days of summer. We remember that even though it may seem that the long dark nights are here to stay, they too shall pass. All the while, we remember the importance of rest and rejuvenation during these cold days and winter nights.
Here at the Fireside homestead in Asheville, North Carolina, we have been hard at work preparing for another busy year. We've got exciting shows, fun festivals, and a whole lot of driving on the horizon. Most importantly, we are in the final phases of recording our SECOND STUDIO ALBUM!!! We're 95% of the way through the recording process and looking forward to releasing our album in the coming months. There's some fast bluegrass numbers, funk and folk hybrids, love songs, and heartbreak tunes. Songs of hope and songs of change, songs of joy and songs of pain. There's some rippin' Dobro, lightning fast guitar solos, tasty mandolin licks, and badass bass breaks! All of this and more, so stay tuned for more info on this as we put the finishing touches on what promises to be our most exciting work yet!
As we await the completion of our album, we are hitting the road once again and sharing the stage with some exciting bands! Starting next week, we embark on our annual winter run. This time, we will travel through Knoxville, Nashville, St. Louis, Columbia MO, Kansas City, and final destination, Wichita KS. We always have a blast in Kansas City and we can't wait to return Wichita. We had such a blast last year in Wichita and we look forward to another awesome night in Kansas!
After that, we head back east in support of an amazing progressive bluegrass band out of San Francisco. Our friends from the band Front Country have invited us to join them at the Isis Restaurant and Music Hall in our hometown of Asheville. We had a chance to play with Front Country at a BBQ and bluegrass festival in Raleigh, NC last year and let me tell you, they absolutely blew us away!! We can't wait to join them once again for what promises to be an exciting night of bluegrass music and contemporary folk!!

Cabin fever is starting to kick in and we are ready to get back on the road! We had so much fun in 2016 meeting new friends, reconnecting with old ones, and journeying all across this beautiful country. We look forward to another year of adventures and we can't wait to see what stories the road will reveal to us. We'll leave you with some lines from the first track on our new album:
"Every now and then, I hear that blowin' wind and I think of all the roads I've crossed. When every place you roam, feels just like home, tell me how can you get lost?!"
We are grateful for all the love and support we've been shown thus far and look forward to the memories we have yet to create with you all.
Peace and love,
A chilly wind blows across the Blue Ridge Mountains as the daylight slowly disappears with each new day. It may be getting colder outside, but here at the Fireside homestead, we are warming up for another exciting year. In fact, we have some exciting news we would like to share with you. This upcoming Monday, December 12th, we will be heading into the studio to begin recording our second studio album!! That's right folks, we're going to be laying down 12 brand new original tracks, and we couldn't be more excited!
We will be recording at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. ETSU is well known for it's Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country music department which is the oldest established program of it's kind at any four-year institution. As many of you know, our guitar player Joe Cicero has been studying bluegrass music at ETSU and brought it to our attention that they have a state of the art recording facility on campus.
In addition, we have assembled an awesome team to help us carry out our vision for this album and bring it to fruition. On the production side, we will be joined by Asheville's own Jesse Langlais. Jesse plays banjo and writes music for the award-winning bluegrass band Town Mountain and brings a great deal of knowledge and expertise to the studio. Our vocal producer will be Dan Boner, director of the Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country music program at ETSU. Dan has toured extensively throughout the world and has appeared on more than 50 recordings. He's also performed onstage with the likes of Ralph Stanley, Allison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, and many others. Our sound engineer will be Ben Bateson. Ben holds a degree in recording engineering from Middle Tennessee State University and worked for Roundabout Records and the Tracking Room in Nashville, TN before taking over the recording lab at ETSU. We are excited to be working with this awesome team and believe they will help take this project to another level!
We also have some exciting news about our upcoming show schedule! To close out the year, we will be performing a special New Years Eve show in Corolla, NC. Corolla, a small town on the Outer Banks, has been a home away from home to us. Since Fireside Collective began, few places have shown us as much love and support as Corolla. It will be a fitting way to celebrate the past year and to ring in the New Year; OBX here we come!
To kick off 2017, we will be heading back to the Northeast. In August we ventured North for the first time and were greeted with so much love and support. We had such a great time that we decided we needed to get back ASAP!
Here's a look at where we'll be:
Jan. 6th - The Deane Center in Wellsboro, PA @ 7:30pm Tickets Here
Jan. 7th - Ransom Steele Taven in Appalachin, NY @ 9pm
Jan. 8th - First Presbyterian Church of Elmira in Elmira, NY @ 7:30pm
Jan. 10th - The Hotel Crittenden in Coudersport, PA @ 6:30pm
Jan. 11th - The Gaslight in Wellsboro, PA @ 8pm
Jan. 12th - World Cafe Live in Philadelphia @ 8pm w/ Joe Miller Tickets Here
Jan. 14th - Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen in Newark, DE @ 9pm
Some of our most memorable performances to date took place on our last Northeast run, and we can't wait to make some more memories up North! We are also very excited to be performing once again in Philadelphia at the World Cafe alongside one of Jesse's high school friends Joe Miller. Joe is an award winning singer-songwriter out of Asbury Park, NJ. Jesse and Joe grew up playing music together and we can't wait to share the stage with him!
Well, it's been a crazy year. We've been all across this beautiful country and we've met so many wonderful people. We couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to play music as a living and to share so many memorable moments with so many great people. Art and Music are integral parts of society and we take great pride in giving people a chance to forget about their worries and to enjoy the present moment for a short time. JFK once said, "If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him." We thank you for giving us the opportunity to share our vision with you and for allowing us to embark on this ever changing, undpredictable journey towards freedom.
It may be cold outside but if we keep that fire in our hearts burning and share it with those we meet, we will make it through the chilly winter nights and find warmth in the prospect of a brighter day.
