Progressive Folk & Bluegrass
Happy New Year!!! To get the year started right, we will be playing every Friday throughout the month of January at the Catawba brewery in downtown Asheville... check out our sweet flyer designed by Jeremy Iaquinto!
Each week will feature a different theme as well as many guest musicians.
We kicked off the 1st of the year with a fun filled set of classic folk music. Tommy got to showcase his deep love of the blues, Jesse got to sing some of his favorite timeless folk songs, and Carson just kept refining his chops on that big old upright bass. Cara Mastrianni joined us for some old Carter Family favorites and the crowd was great!
Here's a look at what's to come...
January 8th - We will be joined by Derek Vaden on banjo and Nick Dauphinais on the guitar as we play some of the finest Bluegrass songs ever created! Featuring hits from Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, and more, we will pay tribute to one of America's greatest musical heritages.
January 15th - Tony Rice week! Featuring Joe Cicero on guitar and Julian Pinelli on fiddle, we will be performing Tony Rice's album "Manzanita" from start to finish along with a number of other songs Tony recorded throughout his career. We're excited to have Joe Cicero playing guitar for this week as he's been studying with Tony's brother Wyatt Rice up at East Tennessee State in Johnson City. Tony Rice is one of bluegrass and Americana's finest musicians and we can't wait to honor such an incredible guitarist!
January 22nd - We will venture outside of the bluegrass realm to pay tribute to the great bands of the Classic Rock era. Everyone will take turns singing some of the finest songs ever written by bands like the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Steve Miller Band, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, the Doobie Brothers, the Allman Brothers, and much, much more. Joining us once again will be Cara Mastrianni and Joe Cicero. You won't wanna miss this fun filled week!
January 29th - For the last week of the residency, we will be playing our album "Shadows and Dreams" in its entirety, along with a number of new originals. We will also include some of our favorite songs from the preceding weeks for an epic finale!
In 2015, we played over 130 shows throughout 7 different states and got to meet some fantastic people! 2016 looks to be another promising year as we continue to tour heavily throughout the Southeast. January and February will see us spending a great deal of time in our hometown of Asheville, NC and the surrounding area. In March, we will be making another trip out to beautiful Colorado. In April, we are honored to be a part of one of the great bluegrass festivals in the country, Merlefest! After that, we hope to tour the Northeast, record a new album, and spend as much time on the beach as possible!
